The cult of self help and motivational gurus is sweeping a world seeking warm fuzzes. Radio and television doctors lecture from their Tower of Babel. Reality televison peers into simulated situations, competitions and contrivances, that are at best amusing.

Thin tight bodies, bouncy hair and smiling bleached white teeth are fashionably desirable. Wearing masks like A-List celebrities, strutting and stretching our limits and patience while dolefully assailing worldly realities, can be dangerous and fun.

Quick Chills Publishing will pursue the elusive forces that drive us. Broken Hearts - Bloody Trails is the first of a trio that will explore timeless questions: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? Why is life such a painfully joyous paradox?

Each short story collection will have a historic centerpiece surrounded by commentary as short-short stories, and engaging tormented revelry. Life is not a flat line. Try as we might to concoct a pat formula for success, peace and contentment, darkness assails and contorts us.

Life, death, fact and fiction - fuse. Love, hate, romance and sex - summon. Truth, lies, and personal perspective - delude. A search for answers and meaning invariably leads authors to stories. Too often, the important ones are lost like wind in the darkness.

I will write and post a short-short story every month, (Chill of the Month), for a year until my next collection 'The Jingle of the Keys' is complete. Hopefully, this practice of me writing and your reading forms a bond between us.
